Title: Article on Ecstacy and PTSD research
Post by: jdubb on December 20, 2008, 12:18:55 PM
For those of you interested in the state of research into legitimate uses of ecstasy, the Economist has a great article this week called "Agony and ecstacy (http://www.economist.com/science/displaystory.cfm?story_id=12792611)". The article talks about using ecstasy to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The article gives a good background on the drug, the research being done and what the future may hold as far as Phase III trials and getting ecstasy rescheduled. It's great to see such a well respected publication write an article like this.

The story is based on the results of the recently completed MAPS (http://www.maps.org/) flagship US study of MDMA-assisted Psychotherapy for the Treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Visit their website to learn more about their groundbreaking work.

Also be sure to donate to MAPS when you visit their site so they can keep researching.
