Disport Records rolls past its 2nd birthday and brings you the 11th offering in the form of ‘Hold My String’ by ‘Back To The Futures’ very own Dudley Strangeways. Remixes come from Disport Records boss Marc Jay and Freq! main man Dave James.

Staying true to the basic principles of House and Techno and owning a sixth sense of what dancers will respond to, Dudley Strangeways has developed a classic sound without ever sounding dated as you will see here as the Original mix of ‘Hold My String’ comes with complimentary crisp, snappy beats and an atmospheric Synth lead entwined in and around a heavy infectious sub bass. This is Club land Sci Fi Style.

Marc Jay brings out a less stomping mix than the original and showers us with a relentless groove and an original full fat lead. Breaking in all the right places Marcs mix peaks and troughs but skips through what could be seen as the light relief in quite a tough and twisted release.

At the start of 2009 Dave James was featured as ‘One To Watch’ in iDJ Magazine being described as someone you will be hearing a lot more of very soon, and we agree as Dave calls a halt on things with his mix and diverts you down a seedy back street, through a side door and down into the depths of an afterhours party. Throbbing sub bass and a spacious format lock you down in that dark place we all know and love.

DJ Support

Support from Jamie Jones, Rob Mello, Adam Shelton

Jo Mills - 8/10 FIRECE STOMPING HOUSE FROM THE MARVELOUS DENNEY!TOP DRAW (Maccas Track)

Affie Yusuf - 8/10 Test cricket, Maccas track.. i like for that cowbell alone. I am sure i have it already!!!! Of course Denney Old School Rumble is my type of fav noise .

Jose Zaragosa 9/10 - That big dirty bass line on Macca's track, just gives me chills! Circus freak has a nice jack feel to it, and old school rumble reminds me of something played at a warehouse party in Chicago. Great job, def playing this one!

Chris James 7/10 - Like Macca's Track, Good Stuff

Timmy Stewart 8/10 - This is ace, all tracks are great and really pulling off the old school flavours well. Gonna spank em all.

Deep South Audio (Blog) 8/10 - Some big pounding grooves set for the club systems .. Circus freak is nice and twisted .. Solid release thanks

Rick Preston 9/10 - All three are rockers!!! "Circus Freak" is the standout for me!!

Laurent Garnier 7/10 - Great OLD SCHOOL RUMBLE

Will play this a lot

Craig Stewart 7/10 - Superb, Maccas Track & Old School Rumble are my faves

Bubba 9/10 - Wow! macca's track right up my street can't wait to drop this!!!

Tom Buddem 5/10 Macca's Track is the one for me here. thanks

DJ Harri 8/10 - Like

Colin Dale 6/10 - Cool tracks....the drums and percussion gives it a great old school feel which is right on the money.

Mark Archer 6/10 Old School Rumble is the standout for me,nice use of an Al Jerreau sample in Circus but Rumble gets my vote.

Phil Weeks 8/10 Circus Freak is very good, will rock also old school rumble

Releasing and remixing on Saved Records, Great Stuff, 20:20 Vision, Leftroom and Bulletdodge Denney’s past productions have gained support from a variety of DJ’s from Laurent Garnier, to Dubfire, to Cirillo, so its no surprise to see him featured on both Radio 1 with a 15 minute producer profile mix and Mixmag naming him a “Future Hero”.

‘Macca’s Track’ kicks the JA.K.D EP off and throbs its way along with a Bass line that even though crystal clear in production disguises itself in the mix as nothing but filthy and relentless, with more bounce than a Chinese laundry this Bass line leads the charge here along side tight percussion, snappy vocal stabs and a solid Kick. This is one for the hottest of floors.

Next up comes ‘Circus Freak’ a combination of Filtered Funk and Acid Tech all wrapped in the delights of Denney’s trademark grooves. This Record is full of energy with hits and shuffles in all the right places halted only by a Jazz influenced breakdown that could only be replicated by a Daft Punk / Duke Ellington love child.

Closing the EP is ‘Old School Rumble’ and this does exactly what it says on the tin. Denney brings the Acid but keeps the funk and bumps through a collaboration of effects and frequency manipulation. This Record Will make you move

Out Now!!!!! Luke Gibson - Funki Saki
Original
Affie Yusuf Mix
Marc Jay Mix

Preview
http://soundcloud.com/disport-records/tracks

Luke Gibson is a Leeds based DJ and producer with Hip Hop and Drum and Bass roots, his Hip Hop and Drum and bass career soon took a back seat due to the heavy influence of the legendary Back to Basics in Leeds and relocating in to a house with some like minded House Heads. Evidence aplenty is here on Luke’s debut release about just where he’s at musically, Heavy Sax business and primitive percussive grooves makes this a winner on the Dance Floor.

The first remix on the pack comes from London based Affie Yusuf who needs no introduction on to the House music scene. First releasing on vinyl in 1993, running Tragic Magic Records with long time partner, House of 909'er Trevor Loveys and is part of the Machines don't care collective. Affie transfers what he does best onto this remix as it bumps you across a near 7 minute mix of Grooves, Bleeps and heavy Sax licks. This is Precision Production and needs to be loud

The third and final mix comes from Disport Records front man Marc Jay. The most laid back of the mixes here and relying on locking down a solid groove and weaving a treat of metallic Synth licks, Heavy Bass, Vocal stabs and staying true to the Original with stabbing Sax hits

LA Events / SUPERFREQ October 29th w/ Butane, Baiz,Xo-Chic, Biiba.Scuba
« Last post by superfreqla on October 21, 2010, 02:50:14 AM »
Hey Angelino Freqs,

We hope you’re all simply fantabulous!

All at Superfreq LA HQ are excited about Superfreq LA for what promises to be a revolution event in the after hours scene in Los Angeles.
Superfreq will be monthly event usually on the last Friday of each month, and we pledge to bring to you quality music for quality people in quality surroundings.

Superfreq Head honcho Mr.C from The Shamen, The End, Plink Plonk, Poker Flat, Wagon Repair etc etc, who recently moved to L.A, will be host & resident DJ joined by Xo- Chic (Wagon Repair)& Biiba Scuba (Superfreq NYC / L.A). This is going to be 1 hell of a crazy party where we bring you the flavor of after hours as it’s done across the pond.

We continue well into the late morning, or for as long as you L.A cats can handle it! In London, it's very easy to start raving at 2 am & still be out the following afternoon. Hopefully we can help to create some of those same magical after hours moments right here in L.A so don’t be scared to bring wigs, masks & colorful attire to help us get through the morning with FUN being the primary objective.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday night & in the meantime be good, if not be very, very careful.

Hugs from the Superfreq team,
xoxo
